Defenseman Dustin Kohn has been re-signed by the Islanders' organization.

Kohn, 23, made his NHL debut last season with the Islanders, playing in 22 games and recording four assists. Prior to his late-January call-up, the Edmonton, Alberta, native scored 17 points (2 goals, 15 assists) in 45 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. For his efforts, the 6-2, 200-lb. Kohn was selected to play for the Canadian team at the 2010 AHL All-Star Classic. He also led the Sound Tigers in scoring during their Cup playoff series against the Hershey Bears, with four points (2 goals, 2 assists) in five games.

A second-round pick (46th overall) of the Islanders in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Kohn has totaled 46 points (9 goals, 37 assists) and 126 penalty minutes in 165 games in three seasons in Bridgeport. Prior to turning professional, Kohn spent four seasons in the WHL with the Brandon Wheat Kings and the Calgary Hitmen, totaling 131 points (20 goals, 111 assists) in 253 games.
