Update: March 30th, 2005
What an exciting year for Connecticut sports. We witnessed the rise of the Connecticut Sun all the way to the WNBA finals and the rise of the UConn Football program to their first ever bowl victory. Our Hartford Wolf Pack made an exciting run at the Calder Cup last season and are again positioned for another try this year. Meanwhile, our beloved UConn Basketball teams overcame adversity and both made runs into the NCAA tournament, while the players that left for the next level all made huge impacts for their respective WNBA and NBA teams. It’s been a great time to be a sport’s fan in Connecticut.
It’s hard to believe; but this marks the 72nd issue of Inside Connecticut Sports. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Carl, Michael, Mike, Rick, and Scott for their regular contributions which have allowed us to improve the quality of the content and the scope of the sports that we cover. I would also like to thank all of the other people who took time out of their busy schedules to contribute information and photos. From photographs of opposing players and away games, news items for the magazine, and content for the magazine’s web site, I appreciate all of the help the magazine has received in it’s quest to try to provide entertaining and interesting content throughout the year.
Now that the football and basketball seasons have come to an end, the magazine will again be changing from a weekly release to being published once every 2-3 weeks. Like last spring and summer, we will adjust the schedule of the magazine to fit the schedule of the major sporting events that are impacting Connecticut. We will resume the weekly schedule once again in the fall to kickoff the UConn Football season.
However, that doesn’t mean we’ll be taking the spring and summer off. There is plenty of great sports to be covered in Connecticut including Wolf Pack hockey playoffs, Eastern League baseball, Connecticut Sun basketball, Pilot Pen Tennis, and the PGA Buick Championship. There will also be more off-season and pre-season coverage of UConn Football and UConn Basketball, starting with coverage of the UConn Football Blue and White Spring game taking place on April 16th at Rentschler field. In addition, we will have off-season reports on recruits and recruiting, summer league play, and any other inside information we come across in our travels.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all those people who have subscribed to receive the magazine each week. Having such a large base of readers allows the magazine to continue to grow and increase the amount of content we can offer. Keep spreading the word about the magazine to family and friends so we can continue to make additional strides during the upcoming year.
See you at the games...
